Two tabs snap into the inner surfaces of the lens hood for a strong positive lock that leaves no play between the hood and the cap.
When the cap is installed, the viewfinder cutout on the lens hood is also closed off and covered from the elements* by a 3D feature that follows the curves of the lens hood perfectly

Super slim design adds less than 2mm to the length of the camera when installed.
