The 50 mm APO-Summicron-M ASPH is widely regarded as one of Leica’s finest M-mount lenses. Designed to deliver the highest possible image quality, it brings apochromatic correction to the classic 50 mm focal length. Aberrations are reduced to an absolute minimum, sharpness and contrast are exceptional, and the lens performs consistently well from its maximum aperture of f/2 through to f/16.

The optical design consists of eight elements in five groups, including one aspherical surface and elements made from anomalous partial dispersion glass. A floating element ensures that image quality remains stable across the entire focusing range, from the closest distance of 0.7 m to infinity. Distortion and vignetting are kept to negligible levels, making the APO-Summicron a true reference lens for both film and digital M cameras.

Finished here in silver chrome, the lens has a classic Leica look and balances beautifully on both modern and vintage M bodies. The build is all-metal, with smooth manual focus and an integrated pull-out hood.
